Ultra Streaming Mode - Benefits?

Hi,
I am just wondering if anyone can shed some light on Ultra Streaming Mode. Experience? Just wondering if this would decrease bandwidth usage? I'm guessing probably not, but I would trade a slight loss in visual quality to save a few gigs. I am also wondering if playing in 720p resolution would also result in less bandwidth usage.
Please help.
